Unwine is the in-house bar of The Sonnet, Salt Lake. The Sonnet, located a stone's throw away from city center 1, is a four star business hotel. The location is prime , the ambience cheerful. The hotel lobby is flanked by Aura, the all day dining restaurant on the left & Unwine the bar on the right. Recently they launched a new cocktail menu & I was invited to taste the same as part of PanchPhoron.
On entering the bar it was quite obvious that it catered primarily to the in house guests of the hotel. There were no over the top decors, seating was spacious, & ambient light sufficient. Couple of sofas & comfortable chairs is there to help you unwind or 'unwine' as they might say it. A big TV screen is there for live match telecasts or at times music playback. Overall for the patrons of the hotel I'm sure it's a great place to spend the evenings. However , to make it more appealing to non-residents I think they need to touch up the décor a little bit.
Anyway we were already quite full from all the delicious dishes we got to try at Aura, review of which can be found in my other post about this hotel, so we skipped the foods & opted for the drinks only. A short review of the drinks we tried is given below.

Pinacolada:
Usually when you order a pinacolada at a bar, you get a glass full mix of rum, coconut milk & pineapple juice. This one actually came inside a hollowed out full size pineapple. Quite a pretty thing to look at. The mix was good, however a bit on the lighter side, easily to be written off as a ladies' drink. But worth a try for people who like their cocktails sweet.

Cucumber Rocks:
This one was a cucumber based mock tail. Served in a martini glass & garnished with s slice of the fruit it looked as if this contained alcohol at first. However the absence of liquor was not felt much as it was no doubt a refreshing drink for hot summer times like now.

Watermelon Mojito:
A great summer cocktail consisting of watermelon puree blended with white rum & a dash of lime juice. Refreshing & tasty this is a drink we all loved.

Hot Beer:
This is the first time I tried a beer based cocktail. Served in a mason jar the beer was infused with green chilli , chat masala & lemon juice. I don't like my drinks spicy at least the alcoholic ones , & sure this one didn't impress me much. May be people who love their drinks spicy & kicking will love it.

Ginger Rock Salt Delight:
A twist to the masala cold drinks, this fizzy mocktail was loved by all for its inimitable lemon ginger garnishing which made it stand out among the other drinks.

Vodka Rasila:
The Rasila in the name comes from Rasila aam actually. A fine mix of vodka, aam panna & mango juice this one was another hit among us. You seldom go wrong with mango. The perfect blend of sweetness & tanginess this is the one to order if you love mangoes.

Passionate Kiss:
Beer, tequila & Strawberry. A bit much too sweet, yet tasty nonetheless & should be a great drink for people to atleast pose with its lovely reddish colour in the martini glass.

Chilly Guava:
Another spicy mocktail. Guava juice , green chili & Tabasco sauce blended together. Liked by some, but for me it was way too spicy to be enjoyed properly.

To say the truth the experience was a bit mixed for me. Though loved the sweet drinks, the spicy ones didn't strike a chord. Still appreciated by many of our groups for the hotness & kicks, I'm sure many will find them great. Will look forward to visiting them for the sweet cocktail mixes.
Till then
Happy drinking
Cheers!
