Even just a couple of years back 'Mughlai' to behaliites would mean going to Haji Saheb & having their biryani. Then in due course of time other Mughlai Moguls like Arsalan, Alibaba, Zeeshan, Azad Hind opened their outlets here. The latest addition to these growing number of eateries is Aminia. Located between pathakpara & ajanta, my first visit to this place wasn't satisfactory. When the management assured me of better service, paid them a visit last week for a short lunch before catching a movie at the nearby Ajanta multiplex.

Its a standalone building, a big one with the take away on the ground floor, & dine in on the mezzanine floor. The big 'aminia' lettering would be hard to miss, but the metro works in front of it has somehow obscured it. Also its a problematic to park your car thanks to the continuous ground excavations for the metro project. However once the metro route becomes operational, it'd be a stone's throw away from the station.

Now coming to the decor & ambience i'm not sure why this time Aminia decided to go with this theme. Seems as if it's situated inside a factory warehouse with the black iron beams, mezzanine, iron door frames. Seriously this might have worked for the 'kaidi kitchen' restaurant but for me it felt really odd. The occasional colours of the ceiling mounted glass painted panel do stand out, so does the collectible bone China hung on the wall beside the staircase. But the overall vibe of the place seriously does not go with the brand of Aminia.
Anyway there's ample place to seat more or less 50-60 place on the mezzanine floor, while the downstairs has the takeaway.
Coming to the food we ordered the following:

1. Butter naan & Garlic naan:
Both of the breads were soft, with ample butter. However liked the garlic naan more, as it was really tasty. Swear I could eat a few of those all by themselve.

2. Lahori murgh / Chicken Lahori:
This dish has its origin in Pakistan as the name implies. However we were a bit disappointed with the dish. First of, the quantity. As per menu it's four pieces of chicken, but the pieces of poultry were quite small. And they were literally swimming in a bowl full of oilly Gravy. Too much oil. I won't complain about the spices, but surely the dish could do with a little less oil.

3. Firni:
The firni turned out to be quite okay. Not too sweet, not too bland. But not that exceptional either.

4. Sweet Lime Soda:
Once again a concoction of sugar & soda, where the sugar refused to blend with the soda. I faced the same issue at their diamond plaza outlet.

Overall once again aminia disappointed me. An average experience to say at most. The only saving grace was the service, which was prompt this time.
May or may not visit again.

Cheers,
Deep.

PS. They are having this promotion of complementary cold drinks for everyone during the summer. However I really feel they should start serving in glasses instead of those flimsy takeaway paper glasses.
